About the Client
ExaThought partnered with Evart, a B2B eCommerce platform, to modernize its cloud infrastructure and deployment workflows. Through a DevOps‑led cloud transformation, Evart transitioned from a serverless MVP to a production‑grade, containerized architecture—improving performance, reducing costs, and enabling faster, more reliable releases at scale.
The Challenge

Evart was designed as a modern B2B eCommerce platform to support secure, high‑volume business transactions.
The initial MVP architecture leveraged AWS Lambda and API Gateway, enabling rapid development and early validation.
However, as the platform matured and usage increased, the limitations of a serverless setup became more apparent.
The platform experienced cold start latency impacting API response times, limited visibility into runtime behavior, and debugging challenges. Differences across development, QA, staging, and production environments introduced deployment risk and slowed release cycles. The architecture was not optimized for sustained B2B traffic, making it difficult to scale reliably while controlling cloud costs.
Evart needed a cloud‑native, automated, and environment‑agnostic deployment setup that could support multiple teams and scale confidently with business growth.
Our approach
ExaThought implemented a DevOps‑first transformation focused on automation, scalability, and operational control.
Architecture & Technology
Simulator-First for Early Risk Discovery
Frontend Hosting
React‑based frontend hosted on Amazon S3 and delivered globally via Amazon CloudFront, with DNS management handled through Amazon Route 53 for reliable and low‑latency access.
Backend Services
The backend consisted of four independent APIs. The initial Lambda‑based architecture was migrated to a containerized setup using Docker and deployed on Amazon ECS Fargate. All services were deployed within a dedicated VPC, enabling stronger network isolation, security, and control. AWS Cloud Map was used for service discovery between backend components.
Infrastructure & CI/CD
All AWS infrastructure was provisioned using Terraform, enabling reusable, version‑controlled Infrastructure as Code across environments. Jenkins‑based CI/CD pipelines automated the entire build, containerization, and deployment process. A single code commit now triggers automated rollouts across Dev, QA, Staging, and Production with full environment parity.
Monitoring & Security
Application logs and metrics are captured using Amazon CloudWatch Logs. IAM roles and security groups provide fine‑grained access control, while private subnets, NAT gateways, and VPC‑level isolation ensure secure backend operations.
Delivery Model
-
Agile, sprint‑based execution
-
Fully automated, single‑click deployments
-
Consistent environments across Dev, QA, Staging, and Production
-
Architecture optimized for continuous B2B traffic

Business Outcomes

From Serverless MVP to Enterprise‑Ready Architecture
By migrating from AWS Lambda to ECS Fargate and embedding DevOps automation across the delivery lifecycle, Evart achieved predictable performance, faster QA cycles, and greater operational confidence. The container‑based architecture eliminated cold start issues and provided full control over runtime, networking, and scaling behavior.
Automation reduced manual intervention and deployment risk, allowing engineering teams to focus on feature development rather than infrastructure management.
Business impact
By combining cloud architecture expertise, DevOps automation, and AWS‑native services, ExaThought helped Evart evolve into a faster, more scalable, and cost‑efficient B2B eCommerce platform. The transformation delivered measurable improvements in performance, deployment velocity, and cloud spend—while laying a strong foundation for future growth and enterprise‑grade operations.
